Week of November 13
Great job at Friday’s home playoff game round 1 & at the Veterans Parade this past Saturday! I can’t tell you how many people expressed their gratitude & appreciation for our participation in the parade. The weather was beautiful, and everyone looked very sharp in the full uniforms & sounded great. You all made me very proud!
This Friday we will travel to Mobile to play Vigor High School at Prichard Stadium. The stadium is not on the campus of Vigor High School. Here’s the address to the stadium:
222 Coach W Harold Clark Dr
Prichard AL 36610
All Eufaula City Schools will be dismissing at lunch to make it easier for people to attend the playoff game. I’m still working on adminstration confirmation, but I’m hoping to leave around 11:00 am (just after all students eat lunch.) I will send out a “remind” text once I get confirmation of a more exact departure time. If you aren’t getting the remind text messages, be sure to sign up today. Send the message “@euf” to the number 81010
We will be taking chartered buses to Mobile. The Eufaula Board of Education is paying about 60% of the cost for the buses… which is wonderful! The total cost is over $4,200 for our 2 buses, but over $2,000 of that will be paid by the BOE. Be sure to extend your thanks to the board members, superintendant, assistant superintendant, administrators, etc. It is greatly appreciated!
If we are able to leave before noon (which I want to do in order to not be rushed through dinner, and to also avoid the school dismissal crowd), we will drive to AMMS to pick up the 8th graders from school early as well. Again, I will text out confirmation on this ASAP.
Mobile is about 4 hours away from Eufaula. The band boosters will be paying for dinner at Ci-Ci’s Pizza in Mobile before the game. Thank you band boosters! After the game, we will return straight home. I expect to return to Eufaula around 2:30 am.
In preparation for the game we will have 1 after-school rehearsal. We were going to have it on Thursday, but I have since been informed that the 8th graders have a practice & basketball performance Thursday, so we will practice Tuesday directly after school on Tuesday. Show choir band rehearsal will be changed to Thursday this week.
Should we win the game, we will host next Friday, November 24th. We would play the winner of the Demopolis/Clay Central Game. Yes, that is the day after Thanksgiving. If we win, we will not have any rehearsals over Thanksgiving Break… just show up for the game that Friday evening. I’m confident we will still remember everything, despite being full on turkey, haha.
Chair tests were completed last week. For the most part, I have been very pleased with the results of everyone submissions. I’ve been working on it all weekend, and should finally finish up tonight! I hope to have the results posted on the bulletin board in the band room when I get to school in the morning. We will really start diggin in this week on some of the music we’ll be performing at the Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 12. I know a lot of you practiced more this past week in preparation for that test than you usually do. Imagine how awesome we could be as an ensemble if you worked that hard all time! I encourage each and everyone one of you to continue pushing yourselfs beyond your limit. That’s the only way to increase what your limit is!
