The Eufaula Christmas Parade is this Thursday, December 7th at 5:00.
We will have 1 after school rehearsal for the parade tomorrow (Monday, December 4th) from 3:45-4:30. We've already been working on a Christmas song (Angels Medley) for that parade. It'll be dark, and many parts of the parade route are very dark, so try your best to have it memorized, or bring some sort of light source you can attach to your instrument or yourself to help see your music. We will wear the full marching uniform, with Santa hats. If you don't already own one, they can be purchased at Walmart, Walgreens, The Dollar Store, or online from your favorite online store and usually just cost a few dollars. They need to be red with a white rim and white ball on the end (see picture), please no other colors. They can have lights on them though if you want. Students will be allowed to wear Christmas/Holiday lights & decorations on your uniforms if you want to as long as it doesn't prevent you from performing properly. |
Everyone needs to take your band uniforms to Superior Cleaners after the parade.
We need to get the band uniforms dry-cleaned.
After Thursday’s parade, everyone needs to take their own band uniform to Superior Cleaners (turn past Walgreens, and it's behind Midsouth Bank) by Monday, December 11th.
They’ll be closed when the parade ends, so you can take them Friday, or Monday.
The only things that should be in the bag when you take them are the uniform jacket & pants on the hanger, and the poncho. Ponchos need to stay in the bags, just be sure that pocket is fully zipped so the poncho won't fall out.
All personal belongings should be taken out of the bag, including band shoes, flip folders, and any other items... check the actual uniform pockets as well.
I will pick them up once they have all been cleaned, pay for them (it's included in your band fees), and return them to EHS.
Here are the cleaners business hours:
Mon-Thur 7am - 5pm
Fri - 8am - 5:30pm

EHS Symphonic Band

We will have 1 after-school rehearsal on Monday, December 11th from 3:30-4:30 so we can have an opportunity to have all the winds and percussion together since they meet during different class times.
For the Christmas concert, students are to wear dressy clothes. Dressy "Christmas" clothes are encouraged, but not required.
You can wear Santa Hats, or other Christmas/Holiday hats if you want to.
Please no jeans, tennis shoes, casual sandals, tshirts, etc.
Boys needs to wear dress pants with a collared shirt, polo-style, etc. Ties/jackets aren't required, but are acceptable if you want.
Girls need to wear dress pants, or long skirts (they must be below the knee... especially when seated, with appropriate top. Please no scoop or plunging necklines. Remember, tights are not considered pants, so if you're wearing tights, your top should be long enough to cover everything.
6:15 - all percussion, and any students with large instruments who put their instruments on the trailer arrive at the auditorium to unload equipment.
6:30 - everyone on stage for warm up
7:00 - Concert begins
7:45 - concert ends, everyone clears stage, and re-load equipment. We will unload equipment Wednesday during class.

Absences
Please make every effort to be at every practice and rehearsal. The success of the band is only possibly with every student consistently in attendance. I realize there have been some out due to illness, and that's ok, but there have been a few others who have missed due to things that could have been avoided. Remember, all appointments need to be made on Mondays or Wednesday whenever possible so not to interfere. All missed after-school rehearsals & performances require a doctor's note, or parental contact to me in advance in cases of a non-medical emergency. My email is [email protected], and is the best way to communicate. You can also send a message through REMIND, so be sure you have signed up for that (see the bottom of this page for details on how to sign up.)
Of course, emergent, and sickness appointments sometimes can't be avoided, but scheduled ones almost always can.
Also, as a reminder, for those who miss class, you only have 3 days to make that day up. Make up times start at 7:30 am. If you're late, that day doesn't count. Failure to do the makeup with 3 days will result in the lowering of your grade, and you will receive 3 8s & 8s per day for not doing the make up. In the case of unexcused absences, no makeup is allowed, and 8s & 8s are automatically assigned.
